SURINDER GREWAL

Surinder Grewal played three years at the University of Calgary where he graduated with a Degree in Economics and a Diploma in Accounting in 2005. In the 2004-2005 Surinder finished the season 9th in the nation in scoring at 19.3 points per game while shooting over 50% percent from the field. He was awarded a Canada West 1st team all star and all Canadian nomination. In the 2003-2004 season Surinder played an integral part in the University of Calgary’s Canada West Title and CIS Nationals semifinal appearance. In the 2002-2003 season he finished 1st in the nation in 3 point field goal percentage @55.1%. Surinder also played two years at Kwantlen Polytechnic University earning a BCCAA Provincial 1st Team All Star award in the 2001-2002 campaign. He finished 3rd in the province in scoring both seasons @ 20+ points per game and was Most Valuable Player for Kwantlen both years as well. Surinder brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table and he hopes to impact the growing youth in the lower mainland in a positive way whether it is through basketball or education.

About the program

The sessions will be designed and run by Surinder Grewal and multiple other qualified coaches and strength trainers. Each session consists of 75 minutes of on-court skill development and 60 minutes of strength and conditioning work. Training will be tailored to challenge you based on your current skill level. This program is recommended for Boys and Girls going into grade 8 to 11 who either play on their high school team or have played on a competitive club team.

We will evaluate and breakdown your strengths and weaknesses and help create a solid game plan for improvement throughout the summer and beyond.

We will be covering:

  • Pick and roll reads and execution
  • Postwork and finishing
  • 1 on 1 scoring off of the catch
  • 1 on 1 scoring off of the dribble
  • Scoring through contact
  • Shooting
  • Defensive footwork and positioning
  • Building sport-specific functional strength with a customized strength training program
  • Improving footwork and body movement to become a better more efficient scorer
